Paula Fenegan Nutrition Support for Menopause
I specialise in providing nutrition support for Menopause and Perimenopause, in Honiton East Devon.Consultations can also be online via Zoom.
As a Nutritionist, I know the effects good nutrition can have on your symptoms. Whether that’s combating bloating, weight gain, brain fog or the constant tiredness. How we support our bodies during the Menopause is so important to reduce the impact of the symptoms. We really need to value our self care in order to support healthy ageing.
I use an approach that looks at you holistically, so that I can see what is your current state of health and what adjustments may be necessary. I take a non-judgmental look at your diet, lifestyle and environmental factors, which all play a significant part in our physical and emotional wellbeing.
All health starts in the gut. This is particularly important at Menopause. If you are on HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy), then you need an optimally functioning gut, in order to absorb it properly.
Nutrition Coaching in just 21 Days
I promote a 21 Day Nutrition Kickstart Programme that works on your gut health. If your gut isn’t healthy and is out of balance, so will all the other systems of the body. They are all interlinked. The bloating, digestion problems, sleep issues and even depression symptoms that can appear at Menopause, due to the change in hormones, can appear worse.
However, it doesn’t have to be like this. The 21 Day Programme is a proven system that has helped many people deal with all sorts of issues from IBS to insomnia.
There is more information below, but If you would like to find out more about a nutrition-based approach, contact me on the link below for a FREE 15min consultation to see how I can support you.
What is Nutrition Coaching?
Nutrition coaching helps you to make the best food choices for your diet and lifestyle.
It can support you to make healthier eating choices that help balance your blood sugar and energy levels throughout the day.
We all tend to eat the same 10 meals every week and don’t realise the effect that it is having on our health.
When we eat a more diverse diet with lots of vegetables and fruit, we help to support our gut microbiome.
There is now a plethora of research on the benefits of good gut health and the positive effect it has on our mental wellbeing.
Never before has mental health been more important and now there are positive steps that we can take with our food choices to help support it.
HOW YOUR GUT AFFECTS YOUR HEALTH
Scientists are only now realising the full effect the gut microbiome( your gut bacteria) has on the health of our whole body. This established link is called the gut-brain connection.
The gut and brain are connected by a nerve called the Vagus Nerve
Ever had that ‘butterfly feeling’ in your stomach or a ‘gut feeling’ about something. Well, that is the very real effect of your ‘second brain’. Scientists call this little brain the enteric nervous system.
This system is only two thin layers of more than 100 million nerve cells lining your gastrointestinal tract from top to bottom.
Your gut is also home to a diverse amount of gut bacteria, that work with your body to create your neurotransmitters. In fact, 95 % of your serotonin( the happy hormone) which influences your mood and GI activity, is created in the gut by bacteria.
They also create chemicals that help both with physical and mental processes such as learning, memory and mood. Clever little critters eh!
“A happy gut, a happy mind and body. It’s as easy as putting the right foods in your mouth.”
